Bannon: We are going to war in the South China Sea in five to 10 years. There’s no doubt about that.
The US and China will wage a war in the next ten years on the islands of the South China Sea, and “there is no doubt about it.” At the same time, the United States will be in another “great” war in the Middle East.
These are the views – at least nine months ago – of one of the most powerful men in the Donald Trump administration, Steve Bannon, the former head of the far right Breitbart information site Now chief strategist at the White House.
In the early weeks of Trump’s presidency, Bannon emerged as a central figure. He was appointed to the National Security Council “Committee of Principals” in a very unusual move and influenced the recent ban on travel of citizens of seven Muslim majority countries, canceling officials of the Ministry of Security Who felt that the order did not apply to Green Card Holders.
While many in the Trump team are open critics of China, in radio broadcasts Bannon hosted for Breitbart it makes the two biggest threats to America: China and Islam.
“We are going to wage war in the South China Sea in five to 10 years,” he said in March 2016. “There is no doubt about it, they take their sand bars and basically make the door They land here in the United States in front of our faces – and you understand the importance of the face – and say it is an ancient territorial sea.
China says almost all of the South China Sea is in its territory, with half a dozen other countries maintaining claims that partially overlap. China has built a series of artificial islands on the reefs and rocks in an attempt to strengthen its position, with military-length runways and anti-aircraft weapons.
Bannon’s feelings and his position in Trump’s inner circle add to the fear of a military confrontation with China after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson declared that the United States would deny China access to Seven artificial islands. The experts warned that any blockade would lead to war.
Bannon is clearly wary of China’s growing weight in Asia and beyond, framing the relationship as entirely contradictory, predicting a confrontation of world culture in years to come.
“You have an expansionist Islam and you have an expansionist China, they are motivated, they are arrogant, they are on the march, and they think that the Judeo-Christian West is on retirement,” Bannon said, A radio program of February 2016.

The day Trump was inaugurated, the Chinese military warned that the war between the two countries was a real possibility.
“A war within the mandate of the president” or “the war that breaks out tonight” are not just slogans, they become a practical reality, “wrote an official on the site of the People’s Liberation Army.
Aside from the conflict between the armies, Bannon repeatedly insisted on his perception that Christianity in the world is threatened.
In a radio show, used to promote an article falsely claiming that a mosque had been built at the North Pole, Bannon focused on Chinese oppression of Christian groups.
“The only thing the Chinese fear more than America … they fear Christianity more than anything,” he said.
But China is not the only hot spot that Bannon sees, and is planning another land war for US troops in the Middle East.
“Some of these situations can become a bit unpleasant,” Bannon said in November 2015. “But you know what, we are in a war. We will obviously make a major shooting war in the Middle East.
He also marked Islam as the most “radical” religion in the world, and has changed rapidly since joining the White House to adopt policies hostile to Muslims. Some have called Trump’s central doctrine “war against Islam”.
