Kolkata: Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly received a threat on his life. He recently got a letter that was delivered by a traveler agency at his Biren Roy Road residence in Behala hours before he was regular to depart for Midnapore to attend a sports event on January five.

In the letter, Sourav was warned that he wouldn’t come back home alive if he would travel attend that event, per sources. Once going through the letter Sourav shortly off his visit, sources discovered. He was additionally to attend a sports event of Vidyasagar University in Midnapore on January 19.

Addressed to Sourav’s mother Nirupa Ganguly, the letter says, “Your son won’t come back if he comes here on January five. I actually have sent pictures with it. Don’t send him here as a result of Ashish Chakraborty took cash from many folks on the pretext of giving jobs. Even CAB won’t be able to do something. I sent you this letter as a result of he would come back home as dead if he would return.”
It is not clear if the sender of the letter pointed his finger on Trinamul Congress MLA of Garbeta Ashish Chakraborty who is additionally the CAB representative of Midnapore. The letter’s envelope, carrying a tag ‘Very Urgent’ says it had been sent from an organization: All India anti-Corruption Committee in West Midnapore. Sourav’s secretary Partha Rudra said that the police has been “notified.”
Asked concerning the incident deputy commissioner of police (southwest) Neeraj Khalid but said on Monday evening, “We don’t have any details. we’ve got not received any criticism.” Even joint commissioner of police (crime) Vishal Garg denied of the incident. Superintendent of police (West Midnapore) Bharati Ghosh additionally said that the district police failed to receive any such criticism.
