YouTube India had conducted YouTube Fanfest 2017 in Mumbai and for the year 2016-17, a viewer watching YouTube videos on smartphones has grown by 400%.
With closely 300 million smartphone customers in the nation as better connectivity and reasonable data plans come to the front, YouTube on Thursday said that it has currently reached 180 million Indians on smartphones alone.
In the past one year, the videos viewed on mobiles has grown from 55 percent to 80 percent and watch time progress on smartphones is developing at 400 percent year on year, the commercial said through its fourth ‘YouTube Fanfest’ in Mumbai.
“We are seeing more thirst for the video watching content through all genres. In the year 2016, we have seen over 500 creators through India get over 100k subscribers,” stated David Powell, the Director of Online Partnerships and Development, YouTube, APAC.
This sudden rise of content creators through the nation is at the heart of YouTube’s admiration in India, and we are suggestively ramping up our exertions to make India one of the most energetic and successful content creator groups in Asia, he said.

Speaking about its explosive growth in India, the company had tinted that 2016 was the year of online makers in India with 14 makers hitting 1 million subscribers every single month.
With more Indians approaching online in tier 2 cities, the company is getting huge appetite for fresh and new content in India pushing online creators to hit new milestones in India, the business said.
