Yami Gautam says that she did not belong to the modeling world, nor had I ever stridden the ramp.
Yami Gautam has been related with very different movies — be it Vicky Donor in 2012, or Kaabil, that is scheduled to release this year, where she performs a visually impaired role.
After performing in TV and commercials all these years, in 2017, she will be seen operational with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan and Rakesh Roshan. Yami, yet, gives away a tiny top-secret: “If not in movies, I would have been a criminal lawyer,” she speaks.
“I have done some work on TV and yet I started my profession there. With due respect to the standard, I was not pleased with the things I was doing then. I sat with my family one day, and decided to take a break. After a month, I just began doing some commercials keenly. I go on audition spree, holding placards like shown in movies. I actually not belong to the modeling world, nor had I ever stridden the ramp. Somehow, I knew that with all the factual lessons given by my parents, I had the guzzlers to say, ‘no’,” Yami clarifies.
She speaks about her simple childhood, as she says, “My mom is very spiritual but not firm. I don’t know whether I am religious or not, but yes, the spiritual belief that mother has passed onto me, remains. Many people don’t know that I have done my graduation in Arts, through a correspondence course; I missed my college. Yet, I wished to study law. I did instigate with my LLB, but could not become a specialized lawyer, as I moved to movies by then.”
About her movie Kaabil, an excited Yami Gautham says, “The causes why I signed Kaabil are man. Apart from the story, I had the chance to work with the veteran producer Rakesh Roshan, and Hrithik Roshan was to play the man lead, and moreover, Sanjay Gupta was directing the movie. What more can I ask for?”
She says, “I am in a very pleased space as 2017 appears to be bringing loads of gladness to me skillfully,” she says, “Working with Amitabh Bachchan (Sarkar) makes me very glad. With this character, my appearance of girl-next-door will be wrecked. Yes, it’s good to break off from dull images,” she concludes.
