Volvo India has an all-new flagship in its stable in the form of S90, which replaces the S80 sedan, and has been presented in India at a starting price of Rs 53.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
This is their second product launch in India the ever since the company was acquired by the Chinese automaker Geely. The company had newly launched the XC90 T8 Excellence Hybrid.

The S90 joins the company’s current lineup in a country, which includes the V40, S60, S60 Cross Country, V40 Cross Country, XC60, and XC90.
The S90 is based on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) technology and it is powered by the ‘D4’ 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that develops the 190PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The Transmission duties are handled by the 8-speed automatic gearbox that directs all the power to the front wheels. The car comes with a three driving modes – Eco, Dynamic & Comfort – which alter the behavior of the car based on the driver requirement.
In terms of looks, the star attraction has to be ‘Thor’s Hammer’ headlamps with the Daytime-Running Lights (DRLs) which are accentuated by a chrome-finished concave front grille, giving the car the strong visual presence. In automobiles as talking about S90 car When you look at it from the side, you will realize just how long the car is. Fascinatingly, the S90 is longer than a BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6 in length. The rear end gets c-shaped tail lamps which make the car stand out of the crowd.
Inside the car, the chrome strip which runs across the dash will surely catch your eye and there is a large 9-inch infotainment screen placed in the middle that has been taken shaped of the XC90.
Being a Volvo, it gets loads of safety features like side, ABS, and the curtain airbags, ISOFIX, emergency brake assist, park assist and lane-keep assist.
The pricing of Volvo S90 puts it right against the big three German automakers’ offerings – Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, along with a British Jaguar XF.
