Police have started a programme in Vijayawada city for felicitating more than 100 women in the city who did an extensive work in various fields.
Vijayawada: Vijayawada city police have started a programme of felicitating more than 100 women in the city who did extensive work in various fields. Joint commissioner of police Hari Kumar had organized a meeting with the women who were selected for felicitation and admired their efforts. Mr. Hari Kumar said that police have taken an initiative to recognize the women who have been achieving a significant growth despite tough situations. “We have selected the woman from different categories and will felicitate them at concerned police stations on Wednesday”, he said.
“We have given priority to the woman who is striving for a survival of their families without the support of men,” said Mr. Hari Kumar Dara karuna Sri, the social activist from the city, said that she was happy for recognition from Vijayawada city police for her work in cornea collection. She said that she have collected around 1600 corneas, 8 organ donations and also 35 body donations for medical colleges in the city.

Karuna Sri said that felicitation from police is motivating her to do more for the society. Another woman Lakshmi Annapurna founder of the MARGAM a voluntary organization working on clean city says that she was happy for the felicitation from city police. Meanwhile, the police will organize special programmes on Wednesday as part of International Women’s Day celebrations. Police, in association with the various shopping malls and associations, had announced special discounts on Womens’ Day. Share-auto ride in the city will be free for women.
Addressing the gathering, the Joint Commissioner of Police, Hari Kumar said that Vijayawada police was going to project strengths of women achievers to inspire the public.
“Utilising their inborn qualities of hard work and courage, women can channel their positive energy into entrepreneurial activities successfully. The section always supports such women achievers and stands by them,” he said. A total of 120 women achievers would be felicitated with shawl and memento at the police stations for the selected women.
