Varsha in a transition mode

Right now, actor Shalu Kurian (Varsha) is in Kozhikode busy shooting for the teleserial Kayamkulam Kochunniyude Makan ventilated on Surya TV in which she acting as Naseema. It is a period drama and Shalu sporting an overall different look in it. “Naseema is a positive character,” begins Shalu. However, she is more popular to Malayalis as the disobedient, villainous Varsha of Chandanamazha.

But Varsha is in a changeover mode now. “She has converted to positive. The viewer’s response has changed consequently,” Shalu says. “At the same time, there is public who love the other Varsha. Normally, the public hates negative characters.

So, when I got such a response, I thought it was because my acting was not substantial enough. Later I understood that viewers truly likes her naughtiness,” smiles Shalu, who is excited to manipulate two extremely opposite characters at that time.

She loves trying different types of characters and does not find it a difficult task to achieve. She has shown that she could handle it. Having begun her acting career with a documentary, Shalu progressively moved to serials. Krishnapaksham was her first.

Then she has acted serials like Thingalum Tharangalum, Chattambi Kalyani, Indira, Kadamattath- achan, Swami Ayyappan, and Sarayu. She had also controlled a funny appeal in Kudumba Police. Although she had represented in a few movies, Shalu reverted to the mini screen after implementation her graduation in Finances.

“Acting was a fast choice. One fine morning I told my parents that I wanted to be an actor they took that in the right soul and I was into acting. They appreciate art although they are not actors”

It was the advertisement of Indulekha that changed her profession. “Sreekumaran sir requested me to do the title role in Chattambi Kalyani sighted that advertisement. Then, I was Rajani in Sarayu, which leftovers close to my heart. Eventually, I landed in Chandanamazha, which made me popular.”

Shalu wishes to continue acting in serials. Also, she needs to resume her dancing lessons that have taken a backseat due to her busy agenda.
