VIJAYAWADA: City police are hoping for reduce Accidents in Traffic Live, a Web-based option built into the Vijayawada police site to reduce fatalities by 2017.Up to 839 lives were lost in road accidents in the Krishna district in 2016 and the accident rate as well as deaths was over compared to 2015.
In this context, the police integrated Traffic Live with its website, developed by a team of web developers in association with the municipal police.
Traffic Live makes it easy for users to identify areas with traffic congestion and those with free vehicle traffic, with the help of Google Maps. Traffic on the roads will be indicated in four colors – green, red, yellow and brown – to guide commuters on routes and speed.
This facility will solve traffic problems and control overspeed driving, reducing road accidents. The website will show heavy traffic / vehicle movements and pass instructions on speed to maintain, said Traffic Deputy Commissioner of Police Kanthi Rana Tata.
Traffic Live provides real-time traffic updates and up-to-date traffic conditions at different crossroads and routes using GPS. “Traffic Live will also show school junctions and blackheads where the possibility of accidents is more,” he said.
