HYDERABAD: Telangana Adilabad would have broken a 10-year record Sunday as temperature in some parts of the district climbed to a stifling 42 degrees Celsius.
According to reports, record Adilabad earlier for the highest temperature in the last decade, was at 40.6 degrees Celsius.
Many parts of northern Telangana continued to experience high temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius this week.
Even Hyderabad hit the mark 40 degrees temperature earlier this week.
“There are no meteorological systems that can provide heat relief. We expect temperatures to rise, but no more than 41 degrees Celsius. The dry weather is due to the absence of wind carrying moisture, “Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist at Skymet, told The Hindu.
The IMD had predicted earlier that Hyderabad would easily reach 45 degrees Celsius, even going higher in May, while places in Andhra such as Vijayawada can observe temperatures as high as 49 degrees Celsius.
However, he said that temperatures would remain below 50 degrees Celsius.
The IMD found a general temperature increase of 0.1 degrees Celsius every 10 years.
She attributes this change to human reasons such as global warming and climate change.
He also said that Telangana is likely to see high temperatures as it is a rocky state inside located in the Deccan plateau, and receives winds from central India.
Meanwhile, other reports suggest that the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir, in the Nalgonda district of Telangana, has gone down to the dead storage level.
This comes two weeks after the Telangana government’s request to maintain a water level of 510 feet in the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam would have been denied by the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB).
The full tank capacity is 590 feet.
There are two important roadblocks on the Krishna River which are on the border – the Srisailam dam upstream and the Nagarjuna Sagar dam downstream.
While Telangana alleged that Andhra had recourse to the diversion of an enormous amount of water from the head of Pothireddypadu, Andhra objected to “illegal projects” like Palamuru-Ranga Reddy and Dindi being caught by Telangana.
