HYDERABAD: About 75 percent of Telangana’s parents reported that their children’s school fees have increased by more than 10 percent during the current school year, a poll revealed.
In the poll conducted by the Citizen Engagement Platform LocalCircles, 42% of Telangana respondents reported that their school increased fees between 11% and 20%, while 33% said the increase was more than 20%. Only 25% said the increase in fees in their school was less than 10%.
At the national level, 54% said their school increased fees between 11% and 20%, 15% said the increase was more than 20%, and 31% said the increase was less than 10%. More than 9,000 parents and grandparents participated in the survey.
LocalCircles has also interacted with some school principals who have capped their fees at less than 10%. By asking them how they could do it, they said that in recent months they have focused on cost optimization, negotiated with their supplier base and have sought to reduce the waste of resources. As a result, they were able to maintain the costs increase in the allowable level.
