Telangana government bans plastic carry bags

Plastics like PVC and chlorinated, which are used in making plastic carry bags, blood bags, and gloves.


Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has enforced a ban on short-life Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and chlorinated plastics usage in the state of Telangana.

It has also barred scorching of waste in the open places after being fixed to do so by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in the month of December last year.

A sum of Rs 25,000 will have to be compensated as “environmental compensation” by the violator for every incident of bulk waste scorching and Rs 5,000 in the case of “normal burning”.

The draft announcement on PVC and chlorinated plastics were dispensed on Monday and make it visible that there will be a “whole ban on usage of short life chlorinated and PVC plastics.”

Suggestions and objections will be amused over the next 60 days and would be lectured to the member secretary, Telangana State Pollution Control Board, A-3, Industrial Estate, Paryavaran Bhavan, Sanath Nagar, Hyderabad-500018.
