Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the Congress would not let shifting of the present Secretariat.
Hyderabad: Topmost Congress leaders, counting TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, previous chief V. Hanumantha Rao and Leaders of the Opposition in the Government on Wednesday performed a dharna at Bison Polo Ground conflicting Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s application to build the Secretariat on the land.
Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the Congress would not permit shifting of the present Secretariat, Assembly and Council to the Bison Polo and Gymkhana grounds beneath any context.
He even stated the media that the verdict to shift Assembly and Secretariat buildings was not only anti-people but contrary to the environment. “The CM seems to hate open areas in the Twin Cities. He has come up with numerous proposals to turn the empty spaces into concrete bushes. The Congress will never let this any conditions,” he stated.
Intimidating to launch a mass distress on the concern, Uttam Kumar Reddy supposed that the CM was acting like Tughlaq who instigated economic upheaval by moving his capital from Delhi to Daultabad and again to Delhi. He stated that the present Secretariat complex has enough space after the AP government relocated its personnel and infrastructure to Velagapudi nearby Vijayawada.
Mohd. Ali Shabbir, the leader of the Opposition in the Council, stated Chief Minister should shake out of the attitude of being a monarch. “Quoting Vastu defects, he has constructed a new palatial house for his housing and it is practically the new Secretariat as KCR is taking Cabinet and review meetings there,” he stated.
Hanumantha Rao stated most of the buildings in the current Secretariat were not even 10 years old and were in good condition.
The leader of the Opposition party K. Jana Reddy stated the Congress was not opposed to taking over the empty land from the Government of India, but it should not be used to construct a new Secretariat.
