Devotees in Tirumala are forced to shell out extra.
Tirupati: Taxi operators are hustling pilgrims in Papavinasanam and Tirumala. The taxi operators are gathering as much as Rs 120 per head while APSRTC prices Rs 43 for the similar thing. But, the distress of waiting for an RTC bus is compelling pilgrims to pick for taxis.
Individuals say that the absence of RTC buses, TTD vehicles is the cause taxi operators are costing a lot in this way. But the RTC specialists say that occupancy in the way is still pending.
APSRTC is also giving a return ticket which can be utilized in any RTC bus when returning. Pilgrims say that the occurrence of buses is very less, which translates an upsurge in the waiting period.
“We have been waiting for the RTC bus for about 20 minutes. I also have taken a return journey ticket. I thought of hiring a jeep but, they are asking hundreds for the 7 Km ride. What can I do other than wait for the bus,” stated, P. Pradeep Kumar a pilgrim from Kakinada.
“The jeep workers are asking Rs 120 per head on a sharing base. However it is jammed, I have paid the money. I won’t have any other choice but to pay for all family members which had set me back by Rs 500 for four members. The RTC should take steps to raise the frequency of buses,” said N. Raja one more devotee from Srikakulam.
RTC currently operates 8 buses in a day making 80 trips. But, the tenancy is sub-standard with only 60-70 per cent of the bus being engaged.
Mr Narasimha Reddy DM, RTC, Tirumala stated, “There are hands-on problems in mounting the buses. We are abandoning two buses a week out of eight because of traffic. There are no parking slots and everyone is parking their vehicle on the roads in that way. This is a huge hurdle for us. I have already told the higher authorities that we can run more buses if parking offered.”
