Tata Motors, becomes the first Indian company, to team up with Microsoft for Car Products. The deal was announced by Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD, Tata Motors
Recently Tata Motors declared about developing passenger Cars in an open platform, and now comes the news of its association with Microsoft for the better in-car connected experience.
The open platform, TAMO from the domestic automaker allows the partnership with numerous technology partners for unveiling low-volume niche products that recognizes the Tata Motors potential in developing Products. This is a part for rebuilding its product strategy of the company for the passenger car segment to stand in a firm position bypassing its Competitors like Google and Uber
“We are using Microsoft’s connected vehicle technologies on the Azure intelligent cloud to bring the digital lives of our customers into the cars they drive,” said Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD, Tata Motors. The company has proclaimed to use Microsoft’s connected vehicle technology besides using AI (artificial intelligence, machine learning and IoT (internet of things) capabilities.
Microsoft stated the technology platform last year while announcing a its partnership with Renault-Nissan. The platform is driven by Microsoft’s cloud computing service for building, deploying and managing applications and services called Microsoft Azure.
“We Expect 90% of new cars to be connected by 2020,” said Anant Maheshwari, president, Microsoft India. “Using IoT, AI and machine learning technologies, we will provide vehicle owners in India and across the world with a safe, productive and fun driving experience,” said Maheshwari.
Tata Motors told the reporters that the first automobile with the improved version will be showcased at 87th Geneva International Motor Show in March 2017. Tata will also include Microsoft’s functionality in its user interface app and services suite.
Additionally, there are certain other features like the suggestion for restaurants; shopping and route assist tips for driver depending on the location and their profile. It also includes a feature which timely updates about the condition of the car to alert any breakdowns and to ensure best Car maintenance.
Azure will assist FOTA and SOTA updates (firmware and software updates) along with the control of settings remotely over the cloud. The more the platform is used, more data can be analyzed, making it an ideal experience for the Users.
