CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (Tancet) 2017, the entrance test for PG engineering courses will be conducted on March 25 and 26. Anna University proclaimed that aspirants, who are seeking admissions to MBA, MCA, ME, M.Tech, M.Arch and M.Plan courses can register online for the exam till February 20.
“Last year around 37,000 aspirants had applied for the entrance exam. This year we expect more applications as there is an increase in the number of aspirants who are appearing for entrance exams like GATE,” stated Mallika, secretary, Tancet (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test). “We are following the same syllabus as for GATE exam. For MBA and MCA courses the exam will be held on March 25 and for PG engineering, the exam will be held on March 26,” she stated.
Nearly 20,000 PG engineering seats are available for the single window counselling. For the last few years, the number of PG engineering entrance test applicants is coming down. But, the officers are expecting the trend to reverse this year. The number of available MCA seats may come down this year as many colleges closed down the MCA course. But, MBA seats likely to increase as many colleges are showing interest to recover the course in their colleges. Anna University also plans to send the circular to all colleges indicating about the entrance exam.
