HYDERABAD: It is already the end of April, but the Greater Municipality of Hyderabad (GHMC) has failed to implement the action plan for the summer.
The GHMC had proposed to maintain drill boreholes, hand bores and supply additional tankers with drinking water for peripheral areas in the summer Rs 2017 action plan “.
While some boreholes have been repaired, additional promised tankers are not delivered to several shantytowns. The state of the Singareni settlement, a slum near Saidabad, worsened during the summer, while the number of fa millies in the colony increased, but the number of tankers sent was the same. Families living in the colony keep 18 to 20 drums in each lane and wait until the tanker treats them. Such drums can be seen in all the ways of the colony. “Each household receives a drum of water for household chores and six buckets of drinking water, the amount of water supplied is the same regardless of the number of family members and the season,” said Devdas N, Resident of the Singareni settlement.
The JNR colony in Nandanavam, Karmanghat, is also experiencing a severe water crisis because the water supplied is not capable of responding to neighborhoods in the area. The water lines have already been deposited, but the operations have been interrupted due to an official procedure.

“We do not receive any additional water during the summer compared to the previous month. There is a water crisis in our region and the supply of tankers is also a temporary solution, but the bore at Nanadvanam cemetery has been corrected and is well maintained, “said Gopi Sathaiaha, Nanadvanam resident, Karmanghat. “We are looking at the situation and we are trying to respond to all people,” said Suresh Kumar, Chief Engineer of GHMC’s Maintenance, Housing and Administration Department.
