Srinu Vaitla: Entertainment is My Forte

Srinu Vaitla speaks about taking failure in pace and how his plans for his next movie, Mister.

Director Srinu Vaitla’s Dhee movie was a big hit and fixed the example for many pictures. He went on to make fruitful movies like King, Ready, Namo Venkatesa, Dookudu and Baadshah with big Tollywood stars. Yet, his last two movies Aagadu and Bruce Lee were criticized. Currently, placing everything behind him, the film maker has made Mister with “a fresh tactic”.

“Entertainment is my forte. So I usually don’t want to ignore it in my pictures. Writing a script is easy, but the hardest part is relating it in an amusing way. That is why most of my movies take more time. Now, I am impending with a different type of love triangle, told in an amusing way,” speaks Srinu Vaitla about his upcoming movie.

The director speaks that this movie is not an answer to his opponents. “I had learnt more from my botches than my victories. My last picture was not up to the mark as I couldn’t provide the entertainment proportion. But I don’t have any qualms since I know that if audience reject a movie, it means that it wasn’t worthy,” he shares, confessing that the movie had a few gaps.

“But I don’t have to show my capability as a director with this movie. I am fervent about cinema and condemnation gives me forte,” says Srinu, saying that he doesn’t typically take criticism or negative remarks so seriously.

“I work harder to deliver a fruitful movie when I face failure. I get enthusiasm from the people since wherever I go, they speak about my previous films and how they like my comedy,” speaks the Srinu.

Speaking about Mister Movie, the director discloses that script writer Gopi Mohan had described a story to him in the month of December in 2015. “It had taken me eight months to turn it into a whole script. We wanted a new face and immediately thought of Varun Tej and finished the script,” he says.

Srinu speaks that he is very eager about this movie as of two reasons. “One, it is a triangular love story that I never tried previously. Two, I shot this movie in many locations — Spain, Switzerland, Kerala, Ooty, Baba Budangiri Hills in Karnataka and the suburbs of Hyderabad, somewhat I never before. I traveled more because of this story and so, this is a travel movie too,” he speaks.

The director is not having any remuneration for this movie as he is going to be a partner. “Yes, I have merged as a partner. I can’t say any other particulars though.”

He says that he really misses comedian M.S. Narayana, a regular character in his movies, who passed away a couple of years ago. “I just got a new person called Raju and I am assured he will replace MS garu,” says Srinu.
