Thiruvananthapuram: Monsoon rains hit Kerala and Lakshadweep on Wednesday with heavy rains claiming the life of a 36-year-old man following a landslip in Idukki district.
K Santosh, head of IMD’s regional centre said, South-west monsoon has set in over Kerala and Lakshadweep
Several parts of the state have been receiving heavy rains from last night. The India Meteorological Department had earlier stated that monsoon was likely to hit Kerala on June 9.
Thiruvananthapuram district officials are taking precautionary steps like limiting flow of tourists to hill stations like Ponmudi in view of heavy rains.
People are also being suggested to avoid travelling in the night on hilly roads
