Some of the streets of Smart City will be transformed into intelligent streets on par with global standards.
Visakhapatnam: Smart City ’s streets will be transformed into smart streets at the same level as global standards. They are designed and operated to provide safe access to all users, including pedestrians and cyclists, “said District Rector and GVMC Special Agent Pravin Kumar. On Monday, representatives from the Vizag Smart City project management consultant, AECOM, gave a PowerPoint presentation on the concept of intelligent streets here at the GVMC office.
Vizag MP K. Haribabu, Commissioner GVMC Mr.Hari Narayanan, ACP trafficking K. Prabhakar, APEPDCL SE Surya Prakash and officials from various other departments took part in the meeting. Mr. Pravin Kumar informed that during the first phase, 7 km of intelligent roads will be built, including 4.9 km from Waltair and 2.1 km from China Waltair.

Mr. Kumar said that special routes for pedestrians and cyclists, accessible public transport stops and environmentally friendly measures will be the main components of the proposed smart streets. Mr. Haribabu asked officials to seek input from Smart City’s stakeholders in the design of the Smart Streets Project Report. The representative of AECOM, Vishal Kundra, explained the concept of intelligent streets to officials and representatives of peoples. Chief city planner A. Suresh Kumar, area commissioner P. Nallanayya, GVMC surveillance engineers and others were present.
