HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government and Tirth Agro Technology Pvt. Ltd. (Shaktiman) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of the Center of Excellence and Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Plant.
This will be the company’s second plant in the country for agricultural equipment after Rajkot in Gujarat. The company expects the Telangana manufacturing center to serve as a gateway to South India.
KT Rama Rao, Minister of State Industries, said in a statement that the government’s priority was to encourage local manufacturing and provided all necessary support to Shaktiman for the establishment of their industry in Telangana.
The center of excellence and the manufacturing plant would come on a 200-acre site. The machines will include rotors, rotary harrows, mechanical seeders, compost shredders, mowers, etc. And field demonstration plots, horticulture plots and water harvest plots.
Shaktiman is a leading manufacturer of agricultural machinery in India with a unit in Gujarat. With a significant market share and exports to more than 77 countries, the company closed with revenues of Rs. 725 crore in 2016-17.
The company expects the proposed unit to generate direct employment for 500 people and indirect employment for about 1,500 people.
The Center of Excellence aims to improve the agricultural process by introducing advanced techniques and helping to upgrade the skills of farmers and students.
