The movie is a remake of 1969 film “Itefaq”, which was produced by BR Chopra and directed by Yash Chopra. And the actors in the movie were Superstar Rajesh Khanna and Actress Nanda, who did a commendable job in the movie. It was a remake of the British film Signpost to Murder (1965). The remarkable aspect of the movie was that it had no songs.
The movie revolves around the story of Dilip Roy (Rajesh Khanna),a painter who was suspected to kill his wife Sushma on a small argument. Police arrest him and send him for a psychological analysis for his erratic behavior, from where he escapes and ends in Rekha’s (Nanda) house. There comes a twist in the story with Rekha’s husband’s dead body in the bathroom. But Rekha says that her husband hasn’t returned from Calcutta yet. Rekha tells him that everything was his imagination. The story has an interesting end with Rekha killing herself.
