Samantha says soon after she had announced her marriage with Naga Chaitanya, movie offers have dried up.
Tollywood is completely male-controlled. No one discerns this better than Samantha Ruth Prabhu who is all fixed to get married with Nagarujna’s elder son Naga Chaitanya. With the bliss comes a grief for her. “From the day my wedding plans were publicized, the movie offers had dried up. I was like… what had happened? Just like that. I am the same heroine. I have given back-to-back knockouts all through the year. My Tamil movie 24 and my Telugu movies A Aa and Janatha Garage were blockbusters. So why am I abruptly being rejected?”
Afore we can retort the question, Samantha says it herself. “Tollywood Producers are now mumbling, ‘How can we toil with her? She is legend Nagarjuna’s daughter-in-law.” Fatefully Nag is totally okay with a functioning daughter-in-law. “Moreover, he asked me if I wish to continue to work. He was more concerned than I was that I would give up my career after wedding. I simply need to dismiss the Telugu and Tamil cinema’s uncertainties about wedded actresses. I actually don’t know about others. However I am not going to stop my career after marriage.”
Excluding a few exclusions, tactlessly Bollywood is the same. Though, in her case, the marriage isn’t occurring right away. “Naga Chaitanya and I have decided to get wedded at the close of next year. He and his family members have been very supportive. Moreover, Chaitanya has left out of his way to let the world know that I anticipated continuing with my career. If still there are hesitations about my future career plans, what can I do or say? But, perhaps wait for the wedding to happen and then show how serious I am about my profession.”
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya became so close from the days they did their first movie together in 2010. “I didn’t know I was going to wed him. He has been with me when I gone for the US with just 30 dollars in my wallet and has been a very significant part of my trip. Currently when I am all prepared to wed him, although there is hesitation about my future in the movie industry, luckily there is no doubt about my future in his family members. Even the commendation offers I was getting have been shortened. It is as though I have already left. It’s strange,” concludes Samantha.
