Rahul Gandhi said that PM like actors do not require any contact lens for tears to roll down his eyes.
Visavadar/Amreli: Start his two-day tour of poll-bound Gujarat district with a visit to the well-known Somnath temple, Rahul Gandhi on this Wednesday has taken a swipe at PM Narendra Modi over his emotive exhortations, calling him an “outstanding actor better than Amitabh Bachchan”.
Talking on three rallies at Visavadar, Savarkundla, and Amreli in the Saurashtra area, Gandhi also stressed out Patidars and condemned Modi over his “silence” on Rafale covenant and “proximity” to select industrialists.
Before setting out on the movement trail, Gandhi has given prayers at the well-known shrine of Lord Shiva at Somnath.
“Narendra Modi is a ‘zabardast’ (outstanding) actor, even better than Amitabh Bachchan. Usually, an actor has to put contact lens when he has to cry…His eyes tingles and tears roll down. But Narendra Modi does not require any contact lens for tears to roll down his eyes,” Gandhi told a meeting at Savarkundla.
At Visavadar, Rahul Gandhi mentioned to the 2015 quota stir in which 14 members of the Patidar communal were killed in police firing and said if anybody raises his voice he either gets beaten up or has to face bullets in Gujarat.
“All the people are raising their voice here against the government. But what do you get if you raise your voice in Gujarat? You are beaten up, you have to face bullets,” Gandhi stated.
Visavdar is a Patidar-dominated area in politically crucial Saurashtra region.
“I enquired Modiji three questions (on the Rafale deal). Initially, is there a variance in the cost of the planes in the first and the second agreement (contracted with a French firm), please offer the reply in yes or no. Why was the agreement given to a private industrialist associate as a substitute of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)? And did you seek the endorsement of the Cabinet Committee on Security for the deal?” Gandhi enquired, referring to the deal amid French firm Dassault Aviation and a business headed by Anil Ambani.
The Congress vice president also hunted to know if due process was followed before formalizing the deal with France in 2016 for acquiring the fighter jets.
Gandhi supposed that the Prime Minister was “evading” answering his questions “out to fear” that the “veracity” would come out before the vital polls in his home state.
“Narendra Modiji is not responding to these questions as he wants that the truth of Rafale and Jay Shah (son of BJP chief Amit Shah) should not originate out before the people ahead of the Gujarat elections,” he stated.
Aiming Modi, Rahul Gandhi said, “You will see how tears overflow from the eyes of this actor 2-3 days before the elections. He will chat about everything but will not speak a word regarding how much worth farmers receive for their produce in Gujarat, loan waiver, or how to alter black money into white”.
In an emotive speech post demonetisation, Modi had said that people can hang him if he cannot bring black money back.
In an emotive outreach during canvassing, Modi had newly said that Gujarat is his mother and her son.
He even claimed that the NDA government delayed the winter session of Parliament as Modi was not set to discuss the Rafale deal and Jay Shah issue before the Gujarat polls.
“Mostly, Parliament’s (winter) session is held every year in November and deliberations take place in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. But, because of two reasons, Parliament is opening after the Gujarat polls this time,” Gandhi stated.
He also criticised the Narendra Modi government on the issues of farmers and redundancy in the BJP-ruled Gujarat.
The Congress vice president suspected that whole land was given to “5-10 industrialist friends of Modi” in Gujarat but agriculturalists were left high and dry.
“Narendra Modiji will not discuss these things in his speeches. He will simply talk about growth, but how much farm loan he has ignored and how much money he has gifted to 5-10 entrepreneurs…Modiji will not talk about these things,” Gandhi stated.
He apparent that Modi has reneged on his promise to give higher MSP to farmers on cotton and groundnut.
“Modi no longer speaks about these issues in his speeches,” he said.
Gandhi will visit numerous towns and villages in Amreli, Bhavnagar and Botad districts on Thursday and talk on a rally on the outskirts of Bhavnagar city in evening.
