Los Angeles: Indian artist Priyanka pipped ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Ellen Viola Davis and Pompeo to win the favorite dramatic TV artist trophy for her role in ‘Quantico’ at the 2017 People’s Choice awards.
This is the 34-year-old actress’ second People’s Choice win, having been called the favorite actress in a new TV series previous year.
After being declared as the victor in the favorite dramatic TV actress category, which also had Kerry Washington and Taraji P Henson as candidates, Priyanka hugged her mom, Madhu Chopra, who goes with her at the award show, before heading to the stage.
An “overwhelmed” Priyanka whispered she is honored to have been nominated alongside the likes of Pompeo, Davis, and others.
“Thank you to the persons. This has been an unbelievable journey. Every single female that was nominated with me today, all these incredible artistes are the reason that I joined TV,” the actress said as her “Baywatch” co-star Dwayne Johnson cheered her from the viewers.

“Being in the similar category as them is so awesome. Thank you to all of you who have believed me and loved my show, my great cast… this means the world to me,” said Priyanka, who elected a Sally LaPointe skirt and upper for the ceremony. Funny about her concussion, she said, “I am really happy. Can I do a little wiggle? Sorry, it’s the concussion conversation.”
She was not the only Indian-origin Actor to be feted at the rite. Lilly Singh was named favorite YouTube star. Before on the red carpet, Priyanka said about her minor accident which occurred during the TV show’s shoot in New York on January 12. She had slipped and fallen, beating her head. And was hospitalized. She was released quickly after being examined by a doctor.
When questioned if she was fit enough to be present at the award show, the actress whispered, “I was a little worried. I didn’t know if I would make it, but I got so fed up sitting on my sofa for three days.
“As long as I don’t do any act and stuff, I’m supposed to be well. It was actually scary. I’ve not ever got hurt earlier on-set while I do acts, I always do them myself. This was just a one-off,” she alleged.
