Porsche has launched a new version of its small but a pricey SUV called the Macan R4. The Macan R4 will be a new entry-level trim and will come with a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and has the price tag of Rs 76.84 lakh ex-showroom, Maharashtra.
Yes, it is a four-cylinder. But, the turbocharger on 2.0-litre petrol runs at an enormous 2 bars of boost pressure pumping 252bhp of power between 5000rpm to 6800rpm and 370Nm of torque starting from 1600rom all the way up to 4500rpm. It gets charge-air cooling along with a direct injection and variable valve timing to push it past the 100kmph mark from zero in just of 6.5 seconds. The Macan R4, at an unladen weight of about 1770kg, is one of the lightest Porsche SUVs and gets a torque-on-demand active all-wheel drive mated to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
It gets 18-inch of alloy wheels, brushed stainless steel tailpipes , a window trims, and the brake callipers painted in black enhancing its sportiness. As for the comfort, you have a two-zone for climate control, eight-way electrically adjustable power seat for the driver along with an electrically adjustable wing mirrors and all four power windows. The Porsche Macan interior is furnished in leather and it gets an electrically operated tailgate too.
The Porsche Macan will compete with a newly launched Jaguar F-Pace and the Mercedes GLE 450 AMG in the performance five-seater luxury SUV segment. The Porsche Macan is also available in the S trim with the 3.0-litre diesel V6 engine and the Turbo that comes out with a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine.
