PM Modi hosts gala dinner for Ivanka Trump at Falaknuma Palace

The gala dinner for Ivanka Trump was hosted by the Union government as part of the enduring Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017.


Hyderabad: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump, United States President Donald Trump’s daughter and presidential advisor, joined a gala dinner at the grand Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad on this Tuesday evening.

The dinner was compered by the Union government as part of the enduring Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017.

Renowned for its gigantic Nizam-era table which can seat 101 visitants at a time, the palace-turned-plush hotel is one the crucial landmarks of the city.

A five-course menu, enthused by Hyderabad’s famed cuisine by a host of cooking experts, led by supervisory chef Sajesh Nair, was allegedly part of the lavish menu.

It also confined a mix of exotic Indian ingredients and fragilities like dahi ke kebab, kubani ke malai kofta, gosht shikampuri kebab,  murg pista ka salan and sitaphal kulfi will be presented over several courses–Aghaz (soup), Mezban (appetisers), Waqfa (sorbet), Mashgool Dastarkhwan (main course) and Zauq e shahi (dessert).

Telangana state Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was amid those present for the dinner.

A separate dinner was arranged for around 1,500 delegates of the GES on the lawns of the palace.

Reports stated that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted Ivanka Trump with a woody box inflated with Sadeli craft – a form of marquetry that instigated in Iran and has thrived in Surat. The highly practiced craft involves fabricating geometric designs in wood, which was habitually used for decorating windows, doors, furniture, jewelry boxes, containers and photo frames.

Falaknuma, one of the majestic palaces in Hyderabad, was the abode of the sixth Nizam, Mir Mahboob Ali Khan till his demise in 1911. Nizam was the ruler of the former princely state of Hyderabad. The palace was crooked into star hotel about a decade ago after refurbishment by Taj Group.

The clans of the Nizam were yet disappointed over not being invited to the gala dinner at Falaknuma.

Nawab Najaf Ali Khan, the grandson of the 7th and last Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan, stated, “It is very disappointing and regrettable that the family of the 7th Nizam was not called for the GES event being conducted in one of the palaces that signifies ‘our familial culture and legacy.”

“I, being the grandson of the former Royal Family, deserve an invite as the Palace is a vital landmark both in our family’s history and also in the antiquity of Hyderabad,” he said in a declaration.

Khan also said that in spite of communicating numerous times with the authorities of NITI Aayog, who is accountable for handling the occasion, over last 10 days, it made no response from their side.

A senior police official said a five-tier security has been delivered to Ivanka, who arrived in the city in the early hours on Tuesday and spoken the eighth edition of the GES.

Ivanka Trump is planned to leave the city on Wednesday.

Telangana state DGP M Mahendar Reddy had said previously that a total of 10,400 security personnel pinched from various wings have been deployed as part of security preparations for the summit.

It embraces personnel from Traffic Police, Telangana State Special Police, Central Armed Reserve, Intelligence Security Wing, commandos of Greyhounds anti-Naxal force and the elite OCTOPUS anti-terror force.

Above 2,000 police personnel have been deployed around the Falaknuma Palace, the official said, adding the police led a door-to-door search at 3,500 houses in surrounding regions and sanitised the zones in the run-up to the summit.
