Phillauri starring Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, Suraj Sharma, Mehrene Kaur Pirzada and directed by Anshai Lal was released yesterday (24 Mar 2017). The movie’s duration is 2 hrs 14 mins. The movie got a pre-release hype as it was Anushka Sharma’s second production venture after her phenomenal hit NH10. The movie is made on a budget of Rs 21 Crores all inclusive as shared by Distributors Fox Star. Production Cost and Prints & Advertising Cost together was around 21 Crores.

Ratings:2/5

Movie Glimpse: Anushka plays the role of Shashi who is a spirit. She gets trapped in human realm after (Kanan) Suraj Sharma marries a tree to cleanse his bad luck as he was said to be born under an unlucky star. Shashi’s dwelling place is the same tree. She returns back to her own realm and then the story revolves around Shashi. Onscreen love interest of Shashi is played by Diljit Dosanjh.

Movie Review: The performance of the actors is incredible be it Suraj Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh they do complete justice to their characters. Mehreen Pirzada‘s character “Anu” who is hopelessly in love is neatly portrayed. Diljit Dosanjh inputs the right dose of his skills in portraying the bland role. The translucent ghost is perfectly picturized, all praises to the VFX team. And finally the lead role played by Anushka is perfectly delivered with a weird mix of sadness and humour.  Phillauri includes two love stories which are interlinked with each other. Both the stories do not have the potential to stir any emotions or strike any chord. Moreover, the film is slow paced. After the genuinely good performances, the movie storyline doesn’t seem to entertain its audience.

It opened poorly on its first day at the box office. Day 1 collections were estimated in 3-4 Crore Trade Figures. It could make its mark only across multiplexes of Punjab and Delhi. The movie was expected to do good in Punjab at least due to a presence of Diljit Dosanjh but it wasn’t so.
