Alia Bhatt calls herself as a feminist and calls for equivalence between men and women.
New Delhi: Alia Bhatt speaks feminism calls for gender parity but public misunderstand the crux of it and end up connecting it with male criticizing.
The Udta Punjab actress states feminism does not plea “special” treatment for females.
“Being a women’s libber is not only restricted to girls. Even a guy can be a feminist. It is all about equality and everybody believes in equality. Individuals usually misunderstand the spirit of feminism. It is not about male criticizing.
“I won’t say that women are greater than men. I don’t even believe it is the right mode to put it. I simply feel that there should be equal treatment for both men and women,” Alia told PTI.
The 23years old star speaks that she might not be a part of any female rights campaign, but it does not say that she is not a feminist.
Alia strongly believes enough and has been said regarding women empowerment and people should realize that “equality” is a lady’s birthright.
“If you are not protesting for women privileges, you are not a feminist that is also a big mistake. Even if I don’t protest, I am a feminist. As a young lady of today, I don’t want more discussion on women empowerment since I feel that it is all talk and I don’t comprehend this discussion. Of course, Equality is our birth right.”
The heroine speaks she could identify with her role of ‘Vaidehi’ in her future film ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania‘.
“I am much closer to Vadehi. She is a feminist and very determined. I love that about her and I certainly connected with that. She is very subtle but at the same time she is more matured.”
The movie is directed by Shashank Khaitan and also featuring Varun Dhawan in the male lead, ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ will be going to release this Friday.
