GUNTUR: AP Assembly Speaker Dr. Kodela Sivaprasada Rao on Monday launched the online vehicle registration in Guntur district. Transport department, as part of the e-Pragati project, introduced the online registration facility. As part of the new system, vehicle buyers can avail the registration facility at the vehicle showroom itself.

Along with Dr. Kodela, minister for the agriculture Prattipati Pulla Rao, Guntur west MLA Modugula Venugopal Reddy & Guntur collector Kantilal Dande participated in this program conducted at a showroom in the city.
The Chief Minister formally launched the program through the video conference, remotely from Vijayawada. He interacted first with the customer Eswara Sarma, under the new system, who purchased a car from Varun Maruti showroom at Siripuram.
A beaming Mr. Sarma, a retired Headmaster & his wife Shanta, expressed their gratitude towards the Chief Minister. Mrs. Shanta said that this was their third car & the first time when they bought a car, they had to run around a Transport Department before the registration number was delivered after the 20 days. Now they were assured of getting the number on the same day without the going to Transport Office.
Transport Commissioner N. Balasubrahmanyam briefed the Chief Minister about the process of uploading of an Aadhar Card Number & other details of the customer at the showroom of the car dealer.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sivaprasada Rao described it as a revolutionary change in the transport department. He said with this new system vehicle owners will benefit largely as they do not have to wait in queues at the registration office. He also suggested that the transport department act tough on the violators to curb the accidents.
Minister Pulla Rao said a new system will bring transparency in the department & also increase the efficiency. He said the new initiative will put a check on the middleman.
