JSK also points out that he has taken approval from producer RB Choudhary, who previously made a blockbuster film with the similar title.
Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathri starter Mellisai, which be there lying in the cans for a long time, has been rechristened Puriyadha Pudhir, and will be out in a grand manner. This is all appreciations to J Satish Kumar of JSK Film Organization, who has accepted the worldwide release rights of the picture. The Kuttram Kadithal producer tells DC why he reformed the title.
“This is my fifth film with Vijay Sethupathi sir. The movie was done a year back, but could not make it to the displays. It was Sethupathi who called me and requested to have a look at the movie, which was in post production. I too know director Ranjit Jeyakodi, as he was Ram’s previous assistant. He is a capable person. The movie has molded up well and I immediately took a call to release it,” JSK reveals.

On changing the title, he utters, “Mellisai was too elegant and poetic. Technically, it may be the accurate title. But the picture is a thriller and the climax suspense cannot be estimated by anyone. So, I felt viewers might not connect with the story mainly amongst B and C centers. Hence, after a lot of thought, and considering names like Nettrikan and Moodu Pani, we decided to lock Puriyadha Pudhir, which is exact apt for the script.”
JSK also points out that he has taken approval from producer RB Choudhary, who earlier made a blockbuster film with the similar title. “It was nice of Choudhary sir to give his support without any unwillingness.”
While Vijay Sethupathi plays a man in search of a work, Gayathri — who has the same footage as that of the previous — essays the role of a part-time violin trainer. “This will be an important film for Sethupathi as well as Gayathri,” says JSK and signs off.
