Kakinada: The applicants for mayor and deputy mayor positions will be out on Saturday instantly after the swearing-in ceremony of freshly-elected corporators takes place. The reigning Telugu Desam Party has announced that the mayor post will be offered to a Kapu woman aspirant.

Kakinada metropolitan MLA and rural MLAs Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Kondababu) and Pilli Anantha Lakshmi correspondingly want deputy mayor post to be specified to a person coming from Backward Classes.
Rendering to sources, 4 women candidates out of 6 elected Kapu women candidates are ambitious for the position. They are making strong efforts so that the TD top-brass will favor them.
Telugu Desam city president Sunkara Tirumala Kumar’s spouse S.Pavani, Adduri Lakshmi Prasanna, S. Siva Prasanna and Makineedi Seshukumari are in the fight for the top post. Ms. Pavani has a tough political background and a lot of MLAs in a highland area are her relations. Her husband Tirumula Kumar was the city party president for three successive times.
Ms. Prasanna also has a great political background in Krishna, East and West Godavari districts. Her spouse S. Vidya Sagar is a supporter to finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Deputy CM Nimmakayala China Rajappa.
Yet, MLA Rao is supporting Ms. Lakshmi Srinivas, a lawyer. He openly mentioned her as mayor in several public meetings. Makineedi Seshu Kumar held her hopes on Telugu Desam high command. She feels that her spell as publicity secretary of Telugu Mahila and her relationship with TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu will make her wanted to post in the city. TD representatives said that the party high command is seeing education, leadership potentials while making the choice.

The newly-elected corporator Sunkara Siva Prasanna is probable to bag mayor post and Chavvakula Rambabu is probable to be given deputy mayor post. Rendering to TD sources, N.
