KOCHI: Members of the Malayalam movie industry came together in one speech on Sunday to state their solidarity with the artist subjected to abduction and alleged sexual assault near Athani on Friday at night. Actors, directors, and others associated with the big screen industry gathered at the Durbar Hall Ground on Sunday evening and pledged their support to the artist.
“Masculinity is not something that should be imposed on women,” said artist Mammooty promising his complete support for getting justice to the victim. “The abduction and the assault are part of a criminal conspiracy,” said actor Manju Warrier, addressing the meeting. “The law should be capable of nabbing those who are behind it.”
Actor Dileep promised his complete support to bring the criminal to the book. Addressing the gathering director and Kerala Chalachitra Academy chairman Kamal cautioned about the criminal elements gaining access to the world of movies.

Actors Innocent, Siddique, MP, Manoj K. Jayan, KPAC Lalitha, Jayasurya, directors Joshi and Renjith, CPM district secretary P. Rajeev, MLAs P.T. Thomas and Hibi Eden and several others attended the gathering.
Speaking at the occasion Actor-director Lal whispered that fiancé of the artist fully supported the decision to make the occurrence public and seek justice. Lal said the performer, traumatized by the incident, was initially unwilling to make the event public. “She came home totally scared and collapsed in my arms and started sobbing uncontrollably. By early morning her family and fiancé members reached home. They extended full support and that gave her the courage to lodge the complaint,” Lal said.
