Hyderabad: Contaminated and vandalised, the well-known ‘Love Hyd’ has been pulled apart and shifted from Tank Bund. It will be repositioned to People’s Plaza after a rehab. It had to be moved since people who stopped to take selfies with the structure started blocking the arterial Tank Bund Road.
Vandalisms showed no ‘love for Hyd’
The arrangement, which has been spoiled for months, is set to get a make-over ahead of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES). Necklace Road and Tank Bund are both in the grade of sight-seeing locations suggested for the GES delegates.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Joel Davis, (Central Zone), says, “Over 10 non-fatal accidents have been stated at this place. Four months ago we have lost a police official who was hit by a fast-moving vehicle when he was crossing the road at that place. Many two and four-wheelers are parked randomly on the main road. The annoyance is more through the late hours.”
The Buddha Purnima Wing of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority was accountable for the identification of a new place for the structure. Yet, it is in need of renovation before it can be reinstalled.
Mr. Prashant K. Lahoti, the founder of Kalakriti Art Gallery, stated, “The structure has been spoiled. Visitors have used nails to doodle on it, and stains and shoe marks have damaged the structure. For this Independence Day, it was tinted in the tricolour. Yet, it will be repainted in its old red and white colours now. It will be fitted at a height at People’s Plaza so that individuals don’t climb on it. The new place will be away from the road, such that no annoyance is caused. The cost of the repairs is yet to be assessed.”
