Kupwara Army camp attack LIVE updates: 3 army men, including an officer, killed

Kupwara Army camp attack: At least 2 terrorists have been killed when terrorists entered an Army camp in Pulwama and starte the fire on the Army men. The Kupwara army camp is placed close to the LOC. With winters withdrawing and summer setting in, the terrorists could well have penetrated from across the border.

9.20 am: As the attack took place at emergence, security officers are alarmed that there may be more than 2 terrorists that creep into army camp. Sources states the Indian Army is organizing against any more attacks in the province. The search operation is still in progress.

8.55 am: Today’s outbreak appears similar to previous year’s outbreak in Uri, Kashmir where 19 soldiers were killed by terrorists who entered the country from across the border.

8.45 am: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to conduct a security review meeting to look at the on-going circumstances in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Top Home Ministry officers are likely to be in review meeting.

8.40 am: About 4 jawans have been rushed to Srinagar where they are being provided medical assistance. Sources state the condition of some of these jawans is critical.

8.35 am: The Army PRO has now established that an Indian Army official is among the 3 personnel killed in the attack. In a statement allotted, the Army stated: Terrorists attacked an Army military base in Panzgam. 2 terrorists have been killed. 3 soldiers, including an officer, have been killed. A search operation is ongoing.

8.25 am: The search operations continue in the area as gunfire was allegedly heard in a location a little ahead of the camp, signifying that there could be more than 2 terrorists and some were hiding in the region.

8.20 am: Multiple sources now approve that at least 3 army men, including an army officer, have been martyred in the attack early this morning. We are, however, still anticipating an official statement from the Army.

8.16 am: 5 jawans wounded at the army camp have been rushed to Srinagar where they are being administrated medical assistance. Sources have stated that the army has suffered substantial casualties but an authorization is awaited.

8.15 am: With the interchange of fire coming to an end at the army camp, security staffs are now steering a search operation to define how many terrorists were at the camp. 2 have been killed.

8.05 am: The army camp that was attacked was an arms base that was deployed close the Line of Control. According to Major General (Retired) Ashok Mehta, the security officers deployed at the weaponry base are not well trained to challenge terrorists as their primary focus is on preserving the weapons at the base.

8.00 am: Information coming in from the attack state that firing took place for over an hour before the security staffs could neutralize the 2 terrorists.

7.55 am: Jammu and Kashmir police have established the attack to Sources. There could be wounded person among the Indian Army officers, the police fear.

7.50 am: The attack allegedly took place at a little after 4 am this morning. It was not instantly known which side the attackers entered the army camp from.
