Krish Jagarlamudi says that Gautamiputra Satakarni is the script of the Satavahana monarch about whom not much is identified.
At the movie audio launch of Gautamiputra Satakarni, the movie’s director Krish Jagarlamudi appeared emotional and self-assured. Though the confidence clearly stemmed from the work fulfillment on the milestone 100th movie of Balakrishna, the passion came from the datum that he’s telling the story of a Satavahana monarch about whom not much is identified.
“It’s amazing how we don’t know our past. Most of us don’t know who Gautamiputra Satakarni is. In Maharashtra state, they know him as the one Chatrapati Shivaji was asked to look up to by his mom. Whereas the Tamilians know him as the great Nootruvar Kannar. But we don’t identify him!” said Krish further saying, “His empire’s Simhadwara was at Kotilingala in Karimnagar district, and his capital was in Amaravati; his supremacy spread as far as Himachal Pradesh. I keep telling my crew that if this guy was a Greek man, numerous movies would have been made on him and perhaps won a few Oscars also. I am so happy to be carrying to life the story of this great chap, his accomplishments, and his splendor on the big screen.”
Deceptively it wasn’t simple to get info about the king as not much has been transcribed about him. “There are works about him by his mom Gautami Balasri, which aided with the base of my story. I found B.N. Sastri’s literature on him and there is a message in a civil service training material where quite some details are set about him in about 25 pages. I lastly got all the info from Megasthenes’ book India. The info that Greeks have but we do not!”
Enlightening how Balakrishna became a part of the venture, Krish said, “Reading about him simmered my blood and I certainly wanted to make this story. We needed somebody whose eyes spittle fire, whose words could show royals and a gait that can draw consideration. Well, there was only one designation that I could think of — Basavaputra Nandamuri Balakrishna. And his devotion to the role was evidence of why we got him on the panel.”
The audio launch, which had taken place in Tirupati was a grand affair with AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu in existence. Hema Malini, Shriya Saran, and Boyapati Srinu were others in presence.
