Kejriwal has been alleging a ‘nexus’ between Congress and the ruling Akalis in poll-bound Punjab.
New Delhi: The war of words between Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Amarinder Singh turned horrible on Twitter today after the Arvind Kejriwal accused the Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh of using an Akali leader’s “drug money” to fund his election campaign and the latter shot back, stating the AAP leader was “hallucinating” and challenged him to a debate.
While Delhi CM accused the Punjab Congress chief of using “drug money” of Akali leader Bikramjit Majithia and then asked why the BJP was out to protect him, the state Congress chief hit back, stating the Delhi CM would next claim US’ Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was collaborating with him (Amarinder) against the AAP leader.
“Sir, people talking in Punjab that you are using Majithia’s drug money in your campaign. Is it true? you had saved him from CBI enquiry 3 years back,”(sic) Kejriwal tweeted.
Majithia is Punjab’s Revenue Minister and brother-in-law of deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, whom AAP has accused of humiliating the drug mafia, a charge discarded by him.
Kejriwal discarded Amarinder’s challenge to have a debate with him and instead recommended a panel of AAP Punjab leaders for it. He, though, agreed to debate with Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi after he was accused of “hiding behind others” by Amarinder.
The former Punjab CM shot back, condemning the AAP chief Kejriwal of “chickening out” and stated that the one who toss allegations at everyone is seeking to engage only with the PM or Political party presidents.
“When your hopes crack from 100 to 30 and still sliding, you’re bound to day dream & see things that don’t exist. You are day dreaming and watching stars during the day.
“Now that you’ve shot your mouth, don’t hurtle like you typically do! Show daring and come for an open debate. Choose the time, place and platform,” Amarinder wrote in the micro-blogging website.
After Kejriwal stated, “I accept your challenge sir” and recommended names of H S Phoolka, Jarnail Singh, Bhagwant Mann or Gurpreet Ghuggi and asked the Congress party leader to select the speaker, date, time and place of his choice, the former Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister accused him of “hiding behind others”.
“Punjabis believe in leading from the front, not hiding behind others. Or have you already accepted that you can’t face me for a public debate?,” Amarinder stated.
Kejriwal hit back stating, “I am not pounding behind anyone sir. I am ready for a debate with Rahul ji or Sonia ji anytime. Our Punjab team will debate with you.”
At this, the Congress party leader stated, “So you’ve backed out! You’re the’Aam Aadmi’ who levels assertions on everyone but would like to engage only with Prime Minister & Presidents of parties!”
With Arvind Kejriwal deanding that Amarinder debates with his Punjab team, he provoked him saying, “But Sir, why is the entire BJP team protecting you”.
Amarinder’s adieu shots then silenced the twitter war. “Morning you started with Majithia, now you’re bringing in BJP, next you’ll say Donald Trump is collaborating with me against you,” he stated on Twitter.
