Kawasaki will become the first major bike manufacturer to officially launch track-only dirt bikes in the country.
Japanese motorcycle company Kawasaki will be launching the KX250F and the KX100 motocross bikes in India on December 18, 2016. The KLX 110, small motocross bike for youngsters has been on sale in India from December 2015. However, this is the first time to track-spec dirt bikes for adults are being launched in the country. Although both of the motorbikes are not road-legal, but the increasing participation in motocross events and the growing popularity of trail riding prompted Kawasaki to inaugurating the new KX250F and the KX100 here.
The bigger Kawasaki KX250F is a powerful but lightweight motorcycle that weighs around 104kg. Propelling the bike is a 249cc, 4-stroke and single-cylinder motor that comes with mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Bolted on a high-tensile steel perimeter frame, the bike gets a long-travel Showa suspension system with fully adjustable 48mm inverted front forks and mono rear shock, but spoke wheels get disc brakes endowing the bike with superior braking performance. The 21 inches front wheel gets 80/100 section tyre and the rear 19 inches wheel comes with fitted skinny 100/90 section rubber particularly designed for dirt tracks.
The Kawasaki KX100 is a younger sibling of the KX250F with a sleeker and lighter design and weighs around 77 kilos. A smaller 99cc two-stroke motor mated to a 6-speed gearbox power the bike. The KX100 features skinnier shocks and tyres along with smaller disc brakes as compared to its elder sibling but both bikes will be available in Lime Green color.
There is no information yet on estimation price, however we know that Kawasaki will import them as a CBU. Kawasaki will be organising a media experience ride of the KX250F and the KX100 on a special dirt track on the inauguration day itself. So, watch out this space for a ride review of the bike.
