KCR promised on Tuesday nominated posts for women who took an active part in the Telangana movement.
Hyderabad: K Chandrasekhar Rao Chief Minister on Tuesday assured nominated posts for females who took an active part in the Telangana movement and also those who worked for females’ development in the state. Conveying greetings to females on International Women’s Day, Mr. Rao constituted a three-member committee comprising Assembly Padma Devender Reddy Deputy Speaker Karimnagar Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma and K. Kavitha Nizamabad MP to select applicants for the post of chairpersons of certain corporations and other nominated posts.
The CM asked the committee associates to make a list of eligible women based on which the nominated posts will be filled up. Mr. Rao also whispered that he was keen that women play a better role in governance.

The matter of nominated posts and Cabinet berths to females has been in the air for some while. The CM had been targeted by the Opposition for dying to induct women in the Cabinet and corporations though there are numerous women legislators.

In the recent nomination of 10 chairpersons to numerous corporations, no females were given posts. Ms. Kavitha and other TRS leaders have been asked about denial of nominated posts and Cabinet berths to females though a large total number of women took part in the Telangana movement. “More innovative programs for women will be launched this year. Women in the state should take advantage of the government programs and arrangements,” the CM said.
