I was never gone: Poojitha Menon

Poojitha Menon, who appointed with Nee Ko Nja Cha in 2013, will be performing as Biju Menon’s heroine in the upcoming Swarna kaduva.


She was mooring a popular show in a Malayalam channel the minute she got the call to act as one of the leading actress in Sunny Wayne-starrer Nee Ko Nja Cha, which hit the screens in 2013. However the film did good business in the box office, Poojitha Menon, who essayed Ann Mathews in the movie, was not seen in many mainstream pictures. Now, the actress is back in act with Biju Menon’s Swarna Kaduva, which is all fixed for release.

Poojitha speaks she has been in the industry since Nee Ko Nja Cha. “But I had not performed as heroines in any mainstream film after my introduction.”

“The only picture with me as the lady character which reached theatres was Maramkothi in 2014. Apart from these two, I was portion of five movies, including Ohm Shanthi Oshana and Arikil Oraal in supportive roles,” says Poojitha.

When it moves toward to Swarna Kaduva, Poojitha acts as Biju Menon’s spouse. “It was through associate director Chackochan, who had worked in Maramkothi, I got the call to this picture. I was named to enact the wife of Biju ettan’s character. I found it entirely different from my characters so far. And I was not ready to miss a chance to work with writer Babu Janardhanan sir, director Jose Thomas sir and Biju ettan,” she states.

Poojitha points out that she had lost a few projects in the three years. “I come into the field as an anchor. Though I like to do big screen, I still do anchoring. So owing to mooring commitments, I had to say no to some movies,” says Poojitha.

Quizzed about her upcoming projects, she says, “As of now, I have not committed to any movies. I am waiting for the release of Swarna Kaduva. But without doubt  I will do more films, if I get interesting roles.”
