Hrithik Roshan talks about his love for exciting roles that give him a mental high, how flaws are building blocks in lifetime.
It was slight past 10 pm when the Greek Divinity of Indian cinema, Hrithik Roshan, lastly sat down to relax and talk about his desire to attain a mental high with each role he portrays onscreen, his life’s attitude, his sons Hrehaan and Hridhaan etc.
From Koi Mil Gaya to Guzaarish, Hrithik had pushed himself physically as well as mentally to get into every role. Even in his future film Kaabil, the hero will be seen performing a visually defied person. Questioned if he intentionally prefers selecting to portray such hard characters, he says, “Yeah. As I have in my own life, several times, experienced the delight of doing a task which I had primarily thought was incredible (for me) to achieve. And when I have gone through that point and became successful, tears rolled out my eyes. That state of accomplishment is a huge reward — it allows you enhances you from within, makes your appearance shine and stretches you a mental high. It can’t be labeled in words, it has to be touched.”
Bravery, self-worth and love
The hero has always been open about his fights, private or professional. On what retains him going through hard times, he says, “I face life with audacity. I have learned that the first thing one can do is aware of one’s flaws. Flaws don’t make anybody lesser than others and that familiarity is significant. You should respect yourself and take all your flaws and faults. I am a stunning person from within — that’s what all we need to tell ourselves. Your flaws are your gifts. The journey of choking your weakness is rewarding and improving” he smiles.
I like variety
Yet he is considered one of the best actors in the movie industry, we don’t see him in many movies. Is there any reason? “I am not here for the awards, to get truckloads of money or be the finest actor in the world… I am absolutely here to relish myself, take delight in what I do and how I do. I am here to be gratified in life and in the characters I play — as a dad, brother, actor, friend, etc. I am an explorer at heart. I don’t know why individuals have this whole notion that I only want to be included in larger than life pictures! I want to do all kinds of movies… I am open to small, tall, short projects.”
Stardom and children
Hrithik Roshan’s personal life has been broadly discussed after his parting from Sussanne Khan. Does he ever feel that owed to his stardom, his children’s personal spaces are assaulted? “My eminence and stardom is part of their life styles. They better learn to receive it, hold it and use it to the finest of their abilities in ways they can pay back. I have told them never to be mortified about your own dad’s stardom as I have worked certainly hard for it. I have also told them to never afraid away from all the prominence they receive as they are my sons… because that’s a pleasing gift one can have.”
