Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) charges are yet to be finalized however commercial operations on the first 30-km phase will be hurled amid November 28 and 30, said HMR management director N.V.S. Reddy on Friday.
He stated the project developer L&T had been probed to succumb proposals on charges which the government will scrutinize and approve in the month of October.
The charge band was fixed at Rs 8 to Rs 19 in April 2011. In March previous year, K.T. Rama Rao told the Assembly that the price would be amid Rs 13 to Rs 25 as per current market prices. With prices shooting up due to the postponement in finishing the project, there are suggestions that the price band could be enlarged to Rs 20 to Rs 50.
Reddy stated a ‘seamless smart card’ and an app will be hurled for travelers, which would cover both RTC and Metro Rail services. He said that government does not owe any debts to L&T. “The Company had sought after some funds from the government on the basis of enlarged project prices but we made it flawless that it would not be possible as per the contract,” he said.
“We will construct skyways to help Metro travelers to avoid crossing the roads to arrive or exit the stations. RTC buses will be a set priority to deliver transportation for travelers at Metro Rail stations. We even launch electric vehicles,” Mr Reddy stated.
