Hyderabad Scores big on transparency in municipal administration in Economic Survey.
In the Economic Survey of India 2016 to 2017 out on Tuesday and Hyderabad was ranked number one in transparency and accountability in municipal administration and participation of citizen’s revenue generated through property tax and licences issued by the corporation as per the economic Study. Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao told this newspaper that the GHMC and its various teams must be congratulated for all the parameters on which it was rated transparency, liability and particularly citizen contribution.
This year Economic Survey noted that Hyderabad scores highly both in terms of the degree of transparency and accountability enacting and complying with a Public Disclosure Law and putting in place internal audit units as per the report.
Capital city Hyderabad shared the top spot with Pune, when it came to a local body generating its own revenue as a percentage of total outflow and it was followed by Mumbai and Patna as per the report.
