EC doesn’t want me to win: Dinakaran after RK Nagar bypoll cancelled

RK Nagar Assembly by-poll candidate TTV Dhinakaran

Chennai/New Delhi: TTV Dinakaran of the VK Sasikala group has called the Election Commission’s (EC) decision to terminate the RK Nagar bypoll, which was to be held on April 12, “wrong”, while the BJP and AIADMK (PTA) have welcomed the decision of the poll panel.

“Wrong decision, even EC doesn’t want me to win. They can postpone but can’t cancel,”  TTV Dinakaran stated on Monday.

The AIADMK, headed by O. Panneerselvam, stated the EC has proved that democracy is alive in the nation.

“I thank the EC for responding to my letter which I have given as a complaint on this concern day before yesterday. This election is not being held in a free and fair manner that’s why the EC had to intervene. Constitutionally it has been proved that our democracy is alive by this decision,” expelled AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa expressed to source.

She further stated that the decision has proved that mafia and money power is involved in this by-poll.

“I would like to thank for taking the right decision at the right time by making IT raid on the corrupted people and exposing their misconducts. We will get justice through the EC,” she added.

She also added that a CBI enquiry needs to be taken so that the truth will come to light.

In the meantime, Tamil Nadu BJP chief Tamilisai Soundararajan also supported the EC’s decision and stated the state needs corruption-free politics.

“The EC should conduct the elections only if they guarantee a free and fair election. If they are unable to do so then let them cancel the elections,” she stated.

“Investigation should be prolonged and probed in much deeper way. We want a corrupt free politics in Tamil Nadu,” Soundararajan stated.

Bypoll in Chennai’s R.K. Nagar constituency, to be held on Wednesday, have been cancelled by the EC a day after cash-for-votes claims appeared.

The decision came after IT raids in Chennai found money was distributed to voters.

The bypoll in RK Nagar became essential after the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who represented it for 2 terms. Stakes for the by-polls were very high as the results would have been a decision of sorts in the war between the 2 rival groups of the ruling AIADMK.
