Despite Examination and Ongoing India vs Australia Test Series Badrinath Ki Dulhania records its name in hundred crore club with Rs114.24 crore at the end of three week.
This month was quite dull in terms of Collections due to school examinations but Badrinath Ki Dulhania leapt an unexpected margin with its collections. It was estimated that the film will not do much due to ongoing Cricket series and examination fever. To all surprises the movie netted around Rs114.24 crore with outstanding entertaining performances of the lead star cast.
“Badrinath ki Dulhania was definitely the film of the month,” said Ashish Saksena, chief operative officer, Cinemas, BookMyShow, the online ticketing platform. “People were already eager to see the Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt combination in a Dharma production and undoubtedly, the movie lived up to all expectations while entertaining the audience in huge numbers,” he said.
Girish Johar, business expert told that he hardly remembers any recent movie to cross the Rs 100 crore club this March and the only film which surprisingly did well was Varun and Alia’s Badrinath ki Dulhania.
The film had several plus points including the energetic pair of Varun and Alia. Moreover the plot was quite entertaining and the songs were captivating. The marketing of the film was also done well which boosted its fame.
Despite several releases including action packed film Commando, Anushka Sharma-starrer Phillauri this movie has got outstanding collections. Phillauri made around Rs25.78 crore and Commando Rs25.09 crore, respectively.
Indeed some Hollywood movies including Disney’s romantic fantasy musical Beauty and the Beast, also did well it made Rs16.13 crore by the end of its second week and Marvel’s superhero film Logan and monster flick Kong: Skull Island could manage to make Rs33 crore and Rs22.58 crore in box office earnings, respectively.
Telugu movie Katamarayudu which is a Pawan Kalyan-starrer also did well. Vidya Balan’s Begum Jaan and Sonakshi Sinha’s Noor are the next movies awaiting to be released. And both are women-centric movies. The most grand release would be Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in this April.
