Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the Polavaram project work site and assured that the project will completed as per the schedule.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu confirmed that the Polavaram project will be completed on time and ensuring that there is no delay in the implementation of the works.
On Monday the chief Minister visited the project site and reviewed the works of the Polavaram Project with the water resources engineers and contracting agency officials on the hilltop of the Ramaiahpeta village in the Polavaram Mandal. He directed the officials to monitor the works of the project continuously and if required extend the assistance to the contracting agencies.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to speed up the work as soon as possible. Naidu said, only 6.55 crore cubic metres work has been completed out of 10.55 crore cubic metres of earth work and the remaining part of the work will be completed as per the schedule.
Naidu said out of 14.11 lakh cubic metres targeted earthworks, so far only 32,000 cubic metres work has been completed and the officials need to speed up these works. He also added that out of 48 crest gates of the spillway, three gates were completed and 1,600 tons steel was utilized for these gates.
A 100-metre diaphragm wall has to be constructed and till now only 28 metres of the construction has done.
He stated that 65 percent of Polavaram Left Main Canal works and 90 per cent of Right Main Canal works has done and the remaining works will be completed as per the prescribed time.
Under the project, the contract agencies engaged about 3,500 to 4,000 workers in construction works and 1500 technical staff members, Naidu said. He also assured that the funds will be sanctioned to the project and will complete the remaining works.
He also added that 500 unemployed youth were trained in rod bending, welding, and other related trades and their services were being utilized in the project construction.
