BSNL Company claims to deliver better internet speed when compared to Pvt. 4G operators.
Visakhapatnam: In order to upsurge customer base, the state-possessed telecom provider BSNL is intensifying its number of 3G sites and WiFi hotspots all through the country. As a chunk of this, it has premeditated 23 WiFi sites and 50 MDOL (mobile data offload) sites in Visakhapatnam district through this financial year.
Moreover, BSNL has custom-made five WiFi hotspots at Paderu, Achyutapuram, Ananthagiri, Tallapalem, and Munchingput.
This year, the public sector telecom main has intended to expand 3G network at 45 sites in town areas and enrich 2G networks at 15 sites in rural regions of Visakhapatnam in 8.4 mobile network growth projects. It has now identified Araku, Paderu, Chintapalli, and Narsipatnam to grow its 3G network.
BSNL is waiting for the endorsements to launch 4G network in the region. The firm still claims to deliver better internet speed when equated to private 4G operators.
“BSNL 3G network service provides a download speed of above 21.6 Mbps, whereas private 4G network service providers are giving download speed of about 18 Mbps,” Visakhapatnam Telecom District principal general manager Nalini Verma said yet speaking to media on the event of 18th BSNL Formation Day on Tuesday.
She further stated, “In spite of rivalry from private players, BSNL has enlarged its market share to 18.84 percent this year from 18.6 percent through last fiscal year. In Visakhapatnam alone, the number of customers grew to 7.68 lakh this year from 7.4 lakh last year. Better exposure, reasonable tariff and good internet speed are the foremost reasons for the constant growth in the customer base.”
Rendering to Verma, Visakhapatnam Telecom District stands fourth amid 68 telecom districts of BSNL that make above Rs. 100-crore revenue per year, next merely to Jalandhar, Ahmedabad, and Nashik. Vizag made revenue of more than Rs. 80 crore in the first six months of this financial year.
