Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police traced the Muthoot Finance dacoity on Wednesday. While key persons are still at hide, 3 of their companions were caught near the Karnataka-Maharashtra border. They are being questioned.
“We succeeded a breakthrough but the looted gold is however to be recovered. It is only a matter of time now,” Cyberabad police stated.
Approximately 2 dozen special parties of Cyberabad police had been deployed in combing at different areas in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra for one week for the suspects.
A gang of 5, two carrying short firearms, drove in an SUV to the Muthoot Finance’s branch at Ramachandrapuram in the city outskirts around 9.20 a.m. on December 28. Posturing as CBI officers, they walked inside, bringing along with them one of their associates masked as a thief. Once inside the Muthoot office, they beaten out firearms and made off with gold and cash.
Video footage of the SUV and sketches of the suspects, arranged on the basis of explanation given by Muthoot Finance employees, were the only clues for the sleuths.
Information collected from vehicle number plate-makers, human intelligence, analysis of mobile phone call data records and updates from teams on the field assisted to nab some of the accused.
