Bollywood Industry has started on a good note with this quarter collections. There were 3 movies which made a remarkable mark in 100 crore club, with a whooping $15 million box-office earnings in the first quarter of 2017.
SRK starter Raees, Hrithik’s Kabil, Akshay’s Jolly LLB 2 and Varun-Alias’ Badrinath Ki Dulhania have done profitable business so far. Hopes are high for S.S. Rajamouli’s much-awaited movie “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion”, which is all set to release this year.
As per the report of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) and management consultants KPMG, 2016 couldn’t impact much in terms of Bollywood success with disappointing script and performances. And this year proves to be correcting all that.
Kaabil and Raees minted up to Rs 103.84 crore and Rs 137.51 crore, respectively, which was a great start and sighed relief to the Industry. Shradha and Aditya’s Ok Jaanu could manage to earn Rs 23.64 crore in early January and Haraamkhor, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui made Rs 1.34 crore, which looked exceptional start. “This is a very good and exceptional start. Jolly LLB 2 did outstandingly well with Rs 116.92 crore and it has got exceptional appreciations and later Badrinath Ki Dulhania made a successful start and minted around Rs 107.69 crore till now. Bollywood is doing good both in terms of content and collections.
“The response in the first quarter has been good. Contentwise, Bollywood films are doing well,” Delhi-based distributor Joginder Mahajan told IANS.
Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, said it has been an “incredible first quarter” for the studio.”As a studio we are backing differentiated content and the results over the last one year have been very gratifying. We have started 2017 on a very good note,” Singh told IANS.
The industry is said to have great high expectations from films that is scheduled to release next. For e.g. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is all set to release over 6,500 screens across various languages on April 28. The budget of the second part of the movie is said to be increased. It is the going to be the first Indian Movie to be released in 4K High Definition Format.
