Bollywood celebrities had moved to Twitter to share their grief over the legendary actor Om Puri’s death.
Om Puri was identified well for his work on-screen both in Bollywood and Hollywood. He was an exceptional product of the National School of Drama and studied theatre there laterally with his fellow Hindi actor Naseeruddin Shah.
His most notable performances comprise Maachis, Aakrosh, Ardh Satya, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Gupt, Chachi 420 and Malamaal Weekly. He was previously seen in Ghayal Returns previous year. He has also seemed in Hollywood movies like Charlie Wilson’s War and City of Joy.
Previous year, he gripped the headlines for all the erroneous seasons when he passed an impervious comment on the Indian army only to deny it later.
Ashoke Pandit, a nearby friend of Puri, told to the media, “Omji had suffered from a massive heart attack in the morning today. We have just reached his home.” It was Pandit ji who broke the news on Twitter.
The actor had attained success in major stream of Bollywood cinema as well as global movies from Pakistan, England and Hollywood. The actor had also received a Padma Shri, the fourth uppermost civilian award of India.
Born in Ambala in Haryana, to a Punjabi clan, the actor had made his debut in movies in a marathi movie Ghashiram Kotwal in 1972.
