Nitin Kapoor, a Bollywood producer, and cousin of Actor Jeetendra was found dead at his office in Mumbai under mysterious circumstances.
Bollywood Producer Nitin Kapoor is the cousin of Bollywood actor Jeetendra’s, who had been undergoing treatment for depression, committed suicide by jumping off the terrace at his sister’s flat in Mumbai, where he had been staying for some time.
The 58-year-old Nitin was jobless for the past 18 years and for the past one-and-a-half years had been suffering from depression.
He was under depression for the last one-and-a-half years and undergoing treatment for the last one month at Kokilaben Hospital, said DCP Ashok Dudhe, a police spokesperson.
Nitin went to the terrace of the six-storey building and jumped off from there.
Nitin Kapoor got married to actress Jayasudha in the year 1985 after two years of love. The couple had maintained a low-key profile always and used to attend together at many events that take place within the industry, including weddings.
In the past in one of the interviews the couple gave to a leading newspaper, Jayasudha was quoted saying, “From day one I was impressed by his good looks and the way he used to converse. If I say I wasn’t attracted towards him, I would be untruthful. But, it was not like love at first sight. But, yes, I liked him and his company.” And Nitin was quoted saying, “We were good friends with no sparks flying. Our story actually began when I started travelling between Chennai and Mumbai. That was when we felt a void in our lives and started missing each other.”
The couple looked very much in love and were married for 30 years and they have two sons-Nihar and Shreayan, who are into the film industry.
Family members of Kapoor, who reside in Hyderabad, have been informed of his death. His body has been sent for post-mortem.
According to the police, no suicide note was recovered from the spot. There was nothing suspicious about the incident.
A case of accidental death has been registered with the Versova police station, the police said.
The cause to take the extreme step was not known yet, police said.
